He had an old and rusty A35 van, and I remember one biology field trip where he very kindly took us lower sixth biology students, in his van, to Cannock Chase. En route we were stopped by police who asked dear old "Hutch" some very searching questions concerning the roadworthiness of his vehicle.... But we all got home ok!
